Mr. Schmitt is a native Floridian who lived in Palm County for over 40 years and for the past five years has resided in Martin County. He attended local schools including Cardinal Newman High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Florida Atlantic University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985.Mr. Schmitt attended graduate studies at Oxford University, Oxford, England, on Scholarship from Rhodes, English Speaking Union. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1989.At Stetson, Mr. Schmitt was State Champion of the AFTL Mock Trial Competition, (1989); he was President of the Student Division of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America; and he was a member of both the American Bar Association Mock Trial Team and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America Mock Trial Team. Mr. Schmitt has practiced exclusively as a personal injury trial attorney since 1989.
