Colorful Reminders Splashed on Billboards Help Get Out The Vote

A very grateful thank you to Lauri Goldstein and the law firm of Goldstein, Schmitt & Wade, PL for donating space on their digital billboard at the intersection of Kanner Highway and Monterey Road in Stuart to the Martin County Supervisor of Elections.

A series of changing colorful messages asked drivers if they were “Election Ready” and advised passersby of the Republican Primary Election on January 31, 2012; the August 14, 2012 Primary; and the General Election on November 6, 2012.

Vote by mail, early voting, changing voter locations, plus the phone number and website of the Elections Office helped Supervisor of Elections Vicki Davis and her team get out the vote.

“When we asked to use the billboard, Lauri immediately agreed,” said Davis. “Goldstein, Schmitt & Wade, PL support Americans Right To Vote. We appreciate their cooperation and good citizenship.”

Attorney Lauri J. Goldstein Nominated for Small Business Philanthropist

Stuart, FL - Lauri J. Goldstein has been an advocate of myriad Treasure Coast non-profit organizations for many years. And they don’t always ask for her support; she volunteers it. She is a unique individual who has never been afraid to follow her heart with all of her intellectual capacity. Wanting to recognize her enormous generosity, Alzheimer’s Community Care and the House of Hope joined forces and nominated Goldstein for the Association of Fundraising Professionals Treasure Coast Chapter’s National Philanthropy Day Awards for Small Business Philanthropist.

In addition to her nominators’ organizations, Goldstein’s philanthropic support has touched organizations such as the United Way’s White Doves, the Stuart Police Department Canine unit, the City of Stuart Recreation Department, Tykes and Teens, Scripps Music Fest and the Riverwalk Jazz Series, the NIE (Newspapers in Educations) program, the Downtown Business Association’s Pirate Fest, Port Salerno Christmas Jamboree, Ft. Pierce Main Street’s Sandy Shores Festival, the St. Lucie County Fair, the Sunrise Theatre, Fright Nite at Tradition, the Treasure Coast Food Bank, the Pilot Club, the Port St. Lucie Rotary foundation, Light the Night Walk for Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters Duck Derby, American Cancer Society, Martin County Red Cross, ARC of Martin County, Hibiscus Children’s Center, Florida Oceanographic Society, the Woman’s Club of Stuart and many more.

Over the past 12 months, she has provided invaluable free advertising for more than 100 events, non-profits and small businesses on the Kanner Highway digital billboard, which has a daily traffic count of approximately 37,000. A conservative estimate of the in-kind value at $100 per day per organization would be $109,500. Usually, three or more community messages are running. Examples of this include summer art camps for the Elliott Museum, 4H and The Artistic Refuge, ArtsFest and the Martin County Fair. A new “Souper Sunday” church soup kitchen received a helping hand, as did Martin County Giving Day. When the Haitian earthquake disaster shook our lives, Goldstein immediately posted a message that donations and supplies would be accepted at her office, resulting in hundreds of pounds of supplies. She has even posted messages to rally community support for board meetings with S. FL Water Management District.

Philanthropy is the effort or inclination to increase the well-being of humankind. Alzheimer’s Community Care and House of Hope agree that Lauri J. Goldstein is a synonym for it.

Goldstein has once again partnered with Tykes and Teens, The Children’s Services Council of Martin County and local businesses to bring The Gold Card to Martin County middle school students. The Gold Card encourages teens to make healthy choices by providing them with discounts to local family-friendly businesses in exchange for a commitment to remain alcohol and drug free. The number of participating Gold Card businesses has increased tremendously this year and includes Big Apple Pizza, Learning Express, Tropical Smoothie CafĂ© of South Stuart, Play N Trade Video Games, Vintage Guitar Closet, Jensen Beach Bowl, Papa Johns, Earthtones in Harmony with Nature, Kilwin’s Chocolates and Ice Cream, 76 Golf World and Stuart Ceramics Painting Studio.

The cards were distributed to students during Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 23-30, which is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention campaign for youth. “We are grateful for Lauri Goldstein’s consistent support of our drug and alcohol prevention efforts”, said Tykes and Teens Executive Director Jeff Ralicki. “Her generosity has given us the resources to find new and creative ways to get our prevention message across to local youth”

Stuart, FL - Who can resist buying Girl Scout cookies during the cookie buying season ?

Not many people, that's for sure. Ms. Goldstein purchased nine cartons of cookies to help out a colleague's Girl Scout troop but rather than keep them for herself, she wanted to share them with those less fortunate. Ms. Goldstein donated all nine cases to The House of Hope in Stuart, a nonprofit agency, founded in 1984, that provides food, clothing, emergency financial assistance and life-changing case management services to Martin County residents.

Lauri J. Goldstein Provides Community Support 24/7

What is big and bright, can be seen from a distance and helps charities all over the Treasure Coast? The answer is Attorney Lauri J. Goldstein’s ads on the digital billboard at the corner of Monterey and Kanner Highway. Ms. Goldstein was one of the first businesses to sign up for the billboard and knew then that she wanted to use it to help others in the community.

One of the best features of the board is the ability to change messages quickly. When the Haitian earthquake occurred, Ms. Goldstein immediately put up two messages; one to donate to the American Red Cross and another to announce that donations were being accepted at the Stuart office. All the donations were taken to Missionary Flights International for transportation to Haiti.

Another public service has been signage reminding drivers “Don’t Drink and Drive” around the holidays as well as messages for food donations to the House of Hope and support of the Treasure Coast Food Bank’s recent fundraiser “Fete du Vin 2010.”

Joanne Towner, development director of the House of Hope commented,” Ms. Goldstein’s billboard support of the House of Hope food drive and our recent fundraising fashion show have definitely made a difference. As soon as the Hearts of Hope luncheon message was posted, our phones rang with new reservations.”

Some of the other charities and events have included the Road to Victory Military Museum’s Open House, ArtsFest, MusicFest, Tykes and Teens, The Pine School, Florida Oceanographic Society Swashbuckler, the Port Salerno Seafood Festival and the St. Lucie County Fair.

Ms. Goldstein’s community support represents thousands of dollars of advertising support and the invaluable added exposure of non-profits events to a steady stream of drivers and passengers.
